Channel Letters

The Basics of Channel Letters

Channel letter signs are three-dimensional letters made of flexible materials such as aluminum, acrylic, and Lexan. These customizable signs are often illuminated with LED modules or Aurora Flex LED lights. Channel letter signs are available in a wide variety of fonts, colors, sizes, and arrangements. These modification options provide business owners with the ability to customize their signs to make their individualistic style and brand. These signs can be either front lit so the “face” of the letters is illuminated, or back-lit.

Which Types of Channel Letters Should I Choose?

You’ve probably seen channel letter signs on public and commercial buildings such as shopping centers, office parks, retail stores, churches, schools, and more. There are two methods for mounting channel letter signs; individually attaching each letter to a building wall or facade, or mounting it onto a raceway.

Our channel letter signs are available in the following styles:

Open-faced Channel Letters

As its name suggests, open-face channel letter signs don’t enclose the light source behind the acrylic, but rather expose it. Due to the exposed illumination, open-face channel letters are an ideal option for businesses that operate at night, such as restaurants, nightclubs, and bars.

Internally Lit Channel Letters

Unlike open-faced channel letters, internally lit channel letters have acrylic faces that conceal the LED modules or Aurora Flex LED lights that illuminate the sign.

Reverse Lit Channel Letters

Reverse-lit channel letters have several other names such as backlit, halo-lit, and reverse pan. The reason these signs are called reverse-lit channel letters is due to the illumination shining behind the letters to create a “halo” effect behind the sign.
